We don’t appreciate health until we lose it.

Lets me start by saying that at the beginning of 2019 I was really excited (Like most people) to start the New Year, and even sent a mass email to my students/subscribers telling them how we were going to rock it.

Well, things did not go according to my plan, unfortunately; I got sick. I started getting sick in January 2019 and everything went downhill from there. Somehow my ears were hurting me, I was coughing, my throat was itching, I had headaches, I felt dizzy all the time, no energy, sleepy, irritable, frustrated, depressed, you name it I had it. So I thought all these symptoms were of a regular cold or something, oh boy was I wrong.

I had all the symptoms of most diseases out there, lol. I was so scared that I did not even visit the doctor because I thought he was going to tell me I had something really bad. Plus I don’t like the health system much because I had bad experiences in the past with bad some diagnosis.

Little by little things got worse and I was not able to work, read emails, and basically was in the worse shape of my life. I had to drink coffee among other things just to get out of the bed at times. I told everybody I was fine and just went with my day and prayed to a higher power to not let me go without seeing my kids grow and become productive individuals for the world.

After months of being sick, I decided enough was enough; I needed to visit a doctor and I did. They found out I had an infection, gave me some antibiotics two days ago.

I feel good enough to write in my blog again, but not only that but I am ready to work and deliver. I imagine this infection has been with me for a long time and who knows what damaged it caused.

What did I learn from all of this? You guessed it 🙂 . To visit the doctor once in a while and make sure that things are ok.

Things that I was doing wrong with my health:

  1. Eating too much junk food
  2. Eating out in different places too many times
  3. Not drinking enough water
  4. Not exercising
  5. Stressing too much
  6. Not sleeping much
  7. No balance, between work and personal life
  8. Not periodically going to the doctor
  9. Not eating enough vegetables and fruits

I started the antibiotics two days ago and (like I mentioned earlier), and now is when I can tell you how sick I was. Guys don’t neglect your health because you will end up paying a price you might not want to pay.

Take care of yourself, balance everything in life and don’t overdo anything; not even the good things.

Until next time your friend Edwin Diaz!

  • Edwin,

You have taught me so much with your PHP that I would love to exercise at least a tiny amount of reciprocity:

Please read the book: Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker

It’s a bestseller and has blown me away. I know you are working on yourself and are intersted in self-development, so this book is made for you.

    All the best,
    David

  • May Allah bless you as well as your entire family. I know that you learned a lot of important facts about life leading and thanks a lot that you share your experience with us. I hope these experiences will help us to lead a great life. You are right that we have come on this earth not only for living but all we have a reason for coming. Let’s try to full fill our work that why we are here.

    Regards & Love

  • Hi Edwin, I’m glad you went to the doctor and I’m glad it wasn’t anything more serious than an infection. My wife has been to the hospital five or six times in the past two years for various problems (abdominal abscesses, sepsis, endometrial cancer, diverticulitis) and am thankful she’s had great doctors and surgeons. Thank you, Edwin, for your positivity and faith in God. I appreciate your motivational messages as I’m going through your PHP Object-Oriented Programming Udemy course. Keep up the great work, the faith, and God bless you – Merry Christmas!

  • Edwin, I’m so happy to hear you’re feeling better. I went through something similar, and it’s no picnic.

I have twelve of your courses on Udemy, as I consider you one of the best instructors I’ve ever had.

Please continue to take care of yourself, and I’ll look for more courses to come in the future.

Best wishes, and have a great holiday.

    God Bless

  • I’m glad the problem was easy to diagnose and to treat, please take care of yourself!
I was released from jail september 30, and decided to pursue a career as a programmer (I took algorithm and data structure courses in university in 2008-2009), I just finished your crash course on Vue and it was quite useful and fun. I had a problem just making the last lesson work, which I’m still trying to figure out, it’s the one where you use vue-router to make navigation possible, for some reason.
In the health side of things, I highly recommend yoga, upon my release I was feeling quite weak and in bad healthy, and after only ~ 7 weeks of yoga I’m feeling great. My diet is also quite balanced, you are great and you can pull off leaving healthily. Take care and thank you ~
